The Realm of the Senses Part 2: Listening "The sound makes the music"
Sound makes the music. Our sense organs allow us to hear, see, taste, smell, and touch. Through them, we perceive the world. An invaluable gift from nature. All sense organs work according to the same principle: information from the environment is received via the eyes, ears, nose, skin, and mouth, converted into bioelectronic signals, transmitted to the brain, and there assembled into perceptions. The five-part series "The Realm of the Senses" tells surprising stories about each of our five senses. "Sound Makes the Music" is about hearing. Hearing evolved to increase the survival chances of each species. In Greenland, we observe how Eskimos mysteriously lose this sense, and in New Zealand, we observe how the Maoris use music. We believe what we hear, but did dinosaurs really roar like in the movie "Jurassic Park"?
